IMPORTANT TERMS OF FISH DISEASES

1. Epidemiology: the study of the relationship of various factors that influence the frequency and spread of disease in a community.

2. Vertical Spread: the spread of disease from one generation to the next generation through eggs.

3. Horizontal Spread: the spread of disease from one fish to another fish in the fish and the same time.

4. Carrier: animals that carry disease-causing organisms in their bodies, but the animals look healthy so that a carrier or spreader of infection.

5. Vector: an animal that mediates disease-causing organisms from one host to another host. Examples: snails, birds.

6. Pathogenicity: the ability to cause disease.

7. Virulence: degree of pathogenicity of a microorganism.

8. Host range: the range of animals can be infected by the pathogen.

9. Obligate parasite: parasite that only uses the fish as the only definitive host

10. Clinical symptoms: early signs of an attack fish diseases in the form of physical abnormalities, behavior that looks visually;

11. Diagnosis of disease: determining the cause of disease that occurs, by observing the clinical symptoms and anatomical pathology in fish sick / dead strengthened by laboratory examination.
